The Ontario Ministry of Transportation has retained Stantec Consulting Limited (Stantec) to undertake the Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA).
News
December 8, 2025 - A Notice of Study Commencement will be posted in the Picton Gazette and Picton County Weekly News newspapers on December 18, 2025 and distributed to property owners in the study area, provincial and federal government agencies, municipalities, Indigenous communities, and stakeholders.

Comments and information are being collected to assist the MTO in meeting the requirements of the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Information will be collected in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. All comments will be maintained on file for use during the study and, with the exception of personal information, may be included in study documentation and become part of the public record.
Project Description
This Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment includes intersection improvements at Highway 62 and County Road 1 (Schoharie Road), in Prince Edward County, Ontario. The Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment for intersection improvements at Highway 62 and County Road 1, completed in 2024, identified a roundabout as the Recommended Plan. This Detail Design study will include design refinements to the roundabout Recommended Plan, development of construction staging plans, consultation, and development of environmental protection and mitigation measures.
The details of the proposed work will be further developed as the Detail Design progresses and will be presented to the public and agencies at one Public Information Centre.
